This is Granger he now lives in Ohio with his new mom.
Dear Mom II,
Just a little note to tell you how things are in my new home! I really like the new mom and dad you got for me; they're really a push over I've almost gotten Phoebe trained, too. She was a little snobby at first but I told her if she didn't straighten out, I'd never give her any peace. She's such a dope! She thinks I'm fragile just because I'm "littler" than she is and I'm playing it to the hilt. When mom throws the toy I let her go the distance; I wait halfway and take the toy away from her and proudly take it to mom. Pretty smart, huh ?
I haven't made much progress in the food department. They're still trying to feed me the puppy food you gave them but I want the same privileges Phoebe has. Seems to work for me. When they're not looking I sneak some of her food. If I snub my food long enough mom will come through with some goodies on the side! I'm good, huh!? Oh yes, I almost forgot...I got my first bath here. I really kinda liked it and I went to sleep when I was getting my comb out. Of course I expected I would as I'd had a hard morning of play with Phoebe. I've finally gotten the ole girl to loosen up and play with me.
I have a nice play pen and if I cry loud enough and long enough Phoebe will feel sorry for me and go get mom
I've finished taking all of my medicines........I could have done without that shot Mo said to tell you that I've done well with my potty habits. Sometimes I get too far away and I'm busy playing and I have an "OOPS!" Mostly, I'm good.
Please tell Mandy and Corky hello for me and tell Reddi I hope she has some pretty babies
Must run now as I have much to do.
Love to you and DAD,
Lexie
LETTER FROM EMILY ROSE TO LEXIE
Hey Lexie!
How's it goin' big sister? Well... you came out of Mom first, so that makes you my big sister doesn't it. That was a way cool e-mail you sent Nanna Pat. Mom "G" read it to me. I thought the part about ambushing Phoebe was awesome! Sorry I haven't written sooner. I've been real bad about writing to Mom and Dad, Corky and Nanna Pat and Papa Jack, too, even though I think about everyone back in Texas. I've just been so busy here since Mom Gwen and Papa Terry adopted me. It's been so strange getting used to this place... not at all like Texas. To start with, IT'S COLD OUTSIDE! and Mom "G" has to wrap me all up in "stuff" to help keep me warm. She calls them sweaters and puppy packs. The sweaters are annoying to say the least when she first wrestles them on me... but then I like how soft they feel... and they really do help keep me comfy and warm when we have to go outside... especially when she tucks me in a soft fleece-lined puppy pack. And not only is it cold... like... it's really cold and there's been all this cold white stuff everywhere... on the ground... on the trees... everywhere! It's mostly gone now and last week I heard a new sound when we woke up. Mom "G" told me it's the song of birds... whatever. It sounded nice, though.
Mom "G"'s been hard to train. I guess she's a little on the slow side. She's stubborn too... tries to not let me get away with anything. But I'm too quick for her sometimes. I especially like to snatch up little bits of stuff on the carpet... especially the little bits of tree bark and dried moss near the wood pile in the living room. But then she brings out this big ugly gray monster with a very long ugly gray nose... kind of like the nose on my fuzzy purple elephant... but much much bigger and longer and noisier! It roars like a lion and scares me the way it eats up every little bit of stuff on the floor. Mom "G" puts me in my playpen when she brings out the ugly monster. But if she'd turn me loose, I'd attack and kill it in a flash! At least I can bark at it from my pen so Mom "G" will know that if it starts doing anything funny I'll protect her from getting eaten up by it like all the other stuff it grabs up and swallows... whole! The scariest part is the long skinny snake tail that she sticks in something in the wall. I hate it when it gets sucked back up into the monster's body when it's all finished eating. At least when it's belly is full, Mom "G" puts it back in its cage in the bathroom.
All-in-all she and Papa Terry are pretty cool. We play and cuddle a lot and listen to music and watch movies... and they let me sleep on the pillow with them at night. Today was really cool! Mom "G" took me out for our first real walk. It was awesome... even though she made me wear some weird contraption she calls a halter. She attached a long thing to it she calls a leash. I didn't really mind it... there was so much that was new to smell and see. She calls where we live a forest... whatever. She seems to have names for everything! She wouldn't let me stay outside very long because of the cold... but promised that as it gets warmer we'll take longer walks together. I can't wait!!! The sunshine on my hair felt so good! When we came back inside I saw all these little spots of color moving around on the walls, the day bed and the floor. I tried to catch them but Mom "G" just laughed and then explained that they're called rainbows and they're made of sunlight coming through a prism that hangs above her computer. It was awesome!
Mom "G" is happier now that I use my potty pads more often. But I must confess... it just feels so good to pee on a soft blanket sometimes. She doesn't get too upset though... just cleans up my mess and hopes I'll do better next time. I must say, we're pretty patient with one another. But I really wish she'd just let me chew on her fingers! They taste really good and they're much softer than those stupid hard plastic nylabone things she tries to stuff in my mouth. She told me, though, that she's trying to find something really yummy for me to chew on. Like... ya know... I just want to chew and chew and chew so badly!!!
Well... Mom "G" says it's time to get ready for bed. I guess I am getting pretty tired. It's been a long day... all that running around after ball and elephant and bear. Sitting in front of the fire in the woodstove as I write is making me sleepy, too. It's so warm and cozy here in the evenings. If you feel like sending me an e-mail sometime, I'd love to keep in touch and hear how you are doing in your new home. But please forgive me if it takes a while before I write back. The days go by so fast here... and there's always so much to be done. Please know that I think of you and Corky, Mom and Dad, Nanna Pat and Papa Jack and all the gang. Please say "Hi!" to your new Mom and Dad for me and Phoebe, too. They sound awesome!
Love and Licks,
Emily Rose
